STEM Club Information

STEM Club is held on Monday after school from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Students from years 4 to 6 are selected based on enthusiasm, availability, and skill. There are only approximately 30 places available each year.  In 2019, over 70 students were invited as we conducted Girls STEM and Boys STEM alternate sessions.

Students who register their interest may be invited if a place becomes available. Students may attend a single year during their time at Lathlain or may be selected for additional years to assist in flow of the program.

Contact Mrs Ionascu if you have any further inquiries (Digital Technologies Specialist)

LEGO League Robotics Competition 2017

Our "Legendary Lathlain" team once again participated in the FIRST LEGO League. A team of 10 students worked hard to find and present a solution to an existing problem, demonstrate excellent team skills and program a LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robot through challenges. Students did exceptionally well in the presentation part of the project and scored seventh out of around 30 teams in the Robot Challenge in their Competition. An enormous effort from the 10 students and four mentors/teachers. It's the journey that counts!

LEGO League Competition 2016

After receiving a competition entry (including a robot) grant, our "Legendary Lathlain" team participated in our first FIRST LEGO League in 2016. Students worked hard to present a project and solution, develop Core Values and program a LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robot. The students received a Programming Trophy and scored third highest in the Game Challenge in their Competition. An enormous effort from the 10 students and four mentors/teachers. It's the journey that counts!
